BRITISH REACH THE RHINE
FIERCE STRUGGLE FOR BRIDGE AT NIJMEGEN
POLES ESTABLISH NEW FRONT ON THE SCHELDT
CAPTURE OF BOULOGNE
Armoured forces of the British Second Army last night reached the south bank of the River Waal (the Dutch name for the Rhine) at Nijmegen.

The armoured corridor established through Holland is being attacked on the flanks, but our forces are being built up in the area round Nijmegen.

Polish troops of the Canadian Army have reached the Scheldt on a six-mile front.

It was reported late last night that the town of Boulogne is now in our hands, but still under fire from Germans in the hills.
