It was stated at midnight that the British corridor through Holland to the Lower Rhine was open again after it had been cut for several hours in a night attack by S.S. troops.

Supplies are again flowing north in the direction of Arnhem, and the airborne troops north of the Rhine yesterday received stronger support from the air.

Small numbers of British infantry crossed the Lower Rhine yesterday, but no further link up with the airborne troops west of Arnhem was reported.

Canadian troops, supported by British artillery, yesterday began an all-out assault on Calais after the port had been heavily bombed by the R.A.F. In some places the outer defences have been overrun.
